1994 Fonseca Vintage Port

We are absolutely delighted to have secured another parcel of the fabulous 100 point  1994  Fonseca  - again imported straight from the cellars in Oporto. 'Hold on to your hat. This is the best  Fonseca  since 1977, and it's probably even better than that classic vintage--more like the breathtaking 1948. Mind-blowing' James Suckling The 1994 is the perfect Port drinker's vintage; mature yet still full of life… you can happily drink them this Christmas, or a thirty years from now.  The wine has been stored in perfect conditions since 1994 - the provenance is therefore impeccable and the bottles are in immaculate condition.   I rank the 1994  Fonseca  in the top three Ports I have ever tasted - alongside 1948 Taylor's and 1963 Dow's.  It really is a wine that needs to be tasted to be believed. Don't miss this opportunity to secure some for your collection! 1994  Fonseca  Vintage Port  @ £580 p...

2018 Gaja Barbaresco

This week we had the opportunity to taste the extraordinary new release from Gaja - the 2018 Barbaresco - with Gaia Gaja at Maccelaio restaurant in London.  The wine was absolutely stunning and this came as no surprise, as  Gaja decided to include all of their famed single vineyard juice (from Sori San Lorenzo, Sori Tildin & Costa Russi) into their estate Barbaresco.   Perfumed, complex and with such beautiful finesse and elegance, it was simply a joy to taste. 'The hallmark of the Gaja estate, the Barbaresco is sourced from 14 vineyards within Barbaresco and Treiso. For the 2018 vintage, there will be no single cru bottlings for Barbaresco' Jeb Dunnuck   Gaja Barbaresco has an extraordinary track record and this is a wine that the family have been making since 1859. It is 100% Nebbiolo sourced from the families various vineyards located in the municipality of Barbaresco. The winery was founded in 1859 in Langhe, Piedmont by Giovanni Gaja and it ...

2019 CDP Beaucastel 'Hommage a Jacques Perrin'

Chateau Beaucastel has been run by several generations of the Perrin family, beginning with the late Jacques Perrin (who died in 1978), then the brothers Jean-Pierre and Francois, and now their sons Thomas, Marc, Pierre, and Mathieu.  Their Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the finest wines in the region and their special cuvee ‘Hommage A Jacques Perrin’ is one of the most sought after wines in the world.  This rare cuvée comes primarily from a single parcel of 90+-year-old Mourvèdre vines located just behind the estate. 'A powerful thoroughbred. One to watch!' Alistair Cooper MW, JancisRobinson.com ‘Summer [2019] was incredible, beautiful, just perfect for Mourvèdre'  - César Perrin The 2019 vintage in Châteauneuf-du-Pape was exceptional, combining elegance with power. The summer was intense, but a couple of small rainfalls in July and August helped to slow the ripening and retain freshness and balance in what might have otherwise been a hot vintage. Perfect c...

2019 Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay

We are excited to introduce the new release of a beautiful wine from Margaret River's oldest winery, Vasse Felix - the 2019 Heytesbury Chardonnay.  You can't help but say 'Wow' when tasting it - it is incredibly delicious nectar!  The Heytsbury has only been made for 21 years - however due to the exceptional quality it has already gained an iconic status. 'If the greatest wines of all prove their merit by virtue of rock-solid consistency from season to season, Heytesbury has attained the pinnacle of Australian Chardonnay' Tyson Stelzer's Top Ten Australian Wines 2019   Although Margaret River is only a small region in far flung Western Australia that accounts for only 2% of Australia's wine production - it commands over 20% of the premium market and produces some of the most highly lauded wines in Australia. The very first vineyard in Margaret River, Vasse Felix was established in 1967 by regional pioneer Dr Tom Cullity, and he started winning gold m...
